After the successful premiere of the special exhibition area "Microtechnologies for Optical Devices" at the W3 Fair+Convention 2019, the IVAM Microtechnology Network will again present the joint area at the networking fair for optics, microtechnology and precision engineering in February 2020. The IVAM area will show the wide-ranging potential of microtechnologies for optics and photonics.

Microtechnology is essential for high-precision optical products

Micro- and nanotechnology is used in the production, positioning, coating and refinement as well as in the quality control of optical components. At a specialist forum at the W3 trade fair, exhibitors of the IVAM area will present their know-how in the application fields of photonics, automotive, laser technology, innovation management, design and product development, DIN standards, Industry 4.0. and international business.

In the special exhibition area "Microtechnologies for Optical Devices" at the W3 Fair+Convention in Wetzlar the following exhibitors are going to show their products and innovations:

Accumold is a high-tech manufacturer of precision micro molded plastic components with part geometries from 5 cm to less than 1 mm in size. Processes include insert molding, clean room molding and 2-shot molding. Materials include PEEK, Ultem, LCP, and most engineered thermoplastics. Markets include: microelectronics, medical, micro optics, sensors and other emerging technologies.

At the W3+ fair, the CiS Forschungsinstitut für Mikrosensorik will present various highlights such as customer-specific silicon photodiodes and arrays in almost any shape and size to realize compact emitter-receiver assemblies. In addition, CiS shows innovative silicon-based packages for improved performance of sensitive UV LEDs. With time constants of only 3 ms, miniaturized IR emitters for gas sensor technology exceed the previous state of the art by an order of magnitude.

FRT GmbH is one of the world's leading manufacturers of 3D surface metrology and will present a specially developed mobile measuring system on-site: Whether large machine, difficult to access vehicle interior, permanently mounted roller or bulky glass pane: if measurements have to be taken "on site", the compact and portable 3D measuring tool MicroSpy Mobile, which weighs only five kilograms, is ready to use within a few minutes. New and specially designed for the MicroSpy Mobile is a high-quality roller case. It ensures the safe transport of all components of the 3D measuring system.

SENTECH has offered plasma process technology and thin-film metrology systems successfully for many years. The focus is on quality, flexibility and automation capability of systems. Applications are the production and measurement of thin films and the etching of micro- and nanostructures. Users come from the semiconductor industry, optics, MEMS, telecommunication, sensor technology and many other areas. SENTECH offers the following technologies: reactive ion etching, plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition, atomic layer deposition, ellipsometry and reflectometry.

As first European company in the global market SONOSYS provides ultrasonic cleaning systems in the frequency range from 400 kHz to 5 MHz. SONOSYS megasonic systems provide highly efficient removal of nanosized particles from substrates, semiconductor wafers, masks, MEMS and LIGA. The products are used in different markets like semiconductor industry, food industry, optical industry, solar cells and sonochemistry. Available products are transducers plates, submersible transducers, face-to-face transducers, single and dual nozzles, atomizers and very compact, modular Generators up to 2000 W.
