Medicine is undergoing a profound transformation – particularly in emergency and intensive care medicine, where every second counts. Miniaturized MedTech solutions – from wearable sensors and mobile diagnostics to intelligent systems – enable more precise diagnoses, continuous monitoring, and more efficient treatment.
Emergency and intensive care medicine face enormous challenges: overcrowded emergency departments and intensive care units, limited resources, and the need for rapid diagnoses. However, advances in miniaturization are driving change and opening up tremendous opportunities. Wearable devices are already revolutionizing patient monitoring – from heart rate to oxygen saturation. At the same time, AI is supporting clinical decision-making, helping to make predictions and use resources more efficiently.
Invisible assistants inside the body – implantable, wearable, and ingestible sensors – trigger real-time alerts and communicate data directly. Compact systems could detect strokes at an early stage, while mobile therapy devices such as small dialysis units or robotic assistance systems could even support outpatient care. Smart intensive care units equipped with AI and intelligent drug delivery systems act preventively, avoid overload, and enable personalized treatment. Miniaturized MedTech thus demonstrates how the medicine of the future can become more efficient, precise, and individualized.
Modern systems connect vital signs, laboratory results, and other patient data in real time, giving physicians and nursing staff a complete overview at all times. Advanced sensors detect critical changes early and prioritize relevant alerts. Crucial to this is not only technological performance but also user-friendliness: “Reducing complexity is absolutely essential for safe patient care. Medical devices must not allow for operating errors,” emphasizes Dr. Jens Ebnet, anesthesiologist and emergency physician, in the IVAM Podcast.
This event is aimed at professionals and decision-makers from hospitals, intensive care units, emergency departments, rescue services, and MedTech manufacturers. Take an active role in shaping the future of emergency and intensive care medicine.

The COMPAMED Innovation Forum is designed to annually showcase current medical technology topics presented by leading voices in the industry and discuss them with participants. The goal is to identify challenges and solutions while providing insights into the themes of COMPAMED, Europe’s largest trade fair for medical manufacturing suppliers.
In collaboration with our long-term partner, Messe Düsseldorf, IVAM is organizing this year’s COMPAMED Innovation Forum as an online event via Zoom on May 21, 2026, from 3 pm to 5:30 pm (CEST).
The presentation language will be English.
The program will be available below shortly.
