Wearables Lunch Talk

Smart Textiles and Workwear

Zoom Meeting

Smart textiles are textiles that are equipped with electronic components, conductive yarns or small sensors and thus develop into high-tech products. For example, they cool athletes or can be flicked on and off like a switch. Until recently, it was a challenge to link textiles with electronic components because there was a lack of methods to fix the electronics securely, robustly and quickly to the soft textiles. Textile researchers have now developed many durable smart textiles, and new fascinating applications, such as in workwear, are being added every year.

Therefore, the Wearables Lunch Talk will focus on "Smart Textiles and Workwear" and will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm (CEST). This time, the Wearables Lunch Talk will be held in cooperation with Zenit as part of the fair A+A  and Future Workwear and is therefore also open to non-members of IVAM free of charge.

Speakers will be:

  • Janne Halme, Aalto University: "Sun-powered Textiles"
  • Jan Kuschan, Fraunhofer IPK: "ErgoJack and PowerGrasp: From the intelligent soft orthosis for ergonomic improvement to the textile exoskeleton for production, logistics and services"
  • Jasmin Simon, Adresys: "Mass Production of Smart Workwear: Exploring Suitable Manufacturing Processes"
  • Gaffar Hossain, v-trion: "Continuous production of power generating thread for smart-textile"
  • Mercedes Sanchis Almenara, Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV): "BIONIC Project (Personalised Body Sensor Networks)"

You are welcome to register for participation in our Wearables Lunch Talk via the Smart and Technical Textiles registration form.
