COMPAMED has become the leading international marketplace for suppliers of medical manufacturing. The trade fair, which is co-located to MEDICA, has been steadily growing over the past years.

The demand for smart, miniaturized components for medical devices and for efficient and highly precise manufacturing processes also continues to grow rapidly. Reliable high-tech solutions are required especially in the area of so-called "wearables", portable diagnostic and monitoring devices.

The IVAM Microtechnology Network is therefore once again presenting an international joint pavilion, the product market "Hightech for Medical Devices", which offers a comprehensive overview of high-tech applications and products for the medical supply industry with 53 exhibitors on 700 m².

The product market in hall 8a is the largest joint pavilion at COMPAMED – and fully booked. The exhibitors come from Germany, Switzerland, France, the USA, the Netherlands, Austria, Great Britain, Greece and Spain.

Among the highlights and innovations of the exhibition area in the field of sensor technology for monitoring applications are for example optical sensors for continuous monitoring of the blood pressure without a cuff, developed by CiS Forschungsinstitut für Mikrosensorik GmbH, single-use and autoclavable flow sensors for proximal flow measurements in ventilation and anesthesia from Sensirion AG or self-sufficient force sensor shoe inserts for acoustic gait analysis or hybrid electronics systems for physical movement monitoring, presented by the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT.

Future intelligent medical products will be discussed at the booth of the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM on the IVAM product market as well as during the special session at the trade fair's accompanying forum in Hall 8a. The presentations will take place on Tuesday, November 14.

Individually adapted implants, which are completely integrated into the body and, in the long term, are replaced by the own bone substance – this is made possible by a new hybrid shaping technique developed at Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS, which will be presented at COMPAMED. The patient-specific hard bone shell comes out of the 3D printer. The spongy inner structure is simulated by a ceramic freeze foam, which is proven to support cell growth and is pressure-resistant and bioactive, too.

CorTec GmbH is exhibiting state-of-the-art technologies for the next generation of active implants in the area of neuroprosthetics to enable highly efficient personalized therapies with innovative technological solutions. Based on flexible technologies, the company offers individualized components for active implants such as electrodes and hermetic capsules.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS will present the project Sens-o-Spheres, where a system for wireless inductive charging of spheres for bioreactors was developed. Further product highlights are a novel injection device for intradermal administration of drugs, developed by Hahn-Schickard and a high-precision 3D printing platform with software for the additive and subtractive fabrication of arbitrarily shaped structures in the volume or on the surface of materials, produced by Multiphoton Optics GmbH.

The IVAM product market "High-tech for Medical Devices" and the COMPAMED HIGH-TECH Forum can be found in hall 8a. A flyer with a complete list of exhibitors and an overview of all presentations at the forum is available free of charge from the IVAM Microtechnology Network.
