At present time China is a big growth market that IVAM – the international Microtechnology Network – wishes to exploit in collaboration with Chinese cooperation partners. Most recently IVAM presented competences of European microtechnology companies and institutes at the end of November at the ICMAN, 4. National Chinese Conference of Microtechnology in Shanghai. “The microsystem-platform in China basically discusses the topics which are also current viral topics in Europe,” reports IVAM CEO Dr. Uwe Kleinkes. “Especially MEMS-based communication technologies for the intelligent house, energy-efficient technologies and much more are elaborated within the scope of the program Sensing China. Machine-to-machine communication, the internet of things and information technologies were the center of interest at the conference. It was recognized not only by China Telecom as a telecommunication company but also by Intel China,” explains Dr. Kleinkes.
The internet of things was especially discussed. It designates wireless sensor networks which ensure more security, more comfort and lower energy consume. The Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology is planning a large research centre for this field of study. Chinese experts focus not only on systematic expansion of R&D-Basis in all relevant areas of microtechnology but also on medical technologies. European manufacturers of devices, for instance EVG, wafer producer Plan Optik and Foundries (X-Fab), held presentations at the conference.
