In July 2021, Raith acquired 4PICO Litho, expanding its nanofabrication portfolio to take in maskless laser lithography. Raith, the global leading precision technology manufacturer of nanofabrication instrumentation, is now able to offer the perfect complement to electron beam lithography and focused ion beam nanofabrication.

4PICO Litho launched its maskless laser lithography business in 2014 with a clear focus on engineering and innovation and has grown steadily and profitably over recent years. The company developed the PicoMaster range to fill the gap between costly e-beam systems and low-resolution mask aligners.

A direct laser writer generates sub-micron patterns directly in a photosensitive film

One of these systems is the PicoMaster 200, a direct laser writer for generating sub-micron patterns directly in a photosensitive film.
PicoMaster direct laser writers are user-friendly maskless lithography tools with excellent performance in producing microstructures with the highest resolution available in the market.

These UV direct writer systems provide unique opportunities for R&D in photonic devices, microelectronics, MEMS, 3D lithography, optical variable devices (OVD), diffractive optical elements, and more.“Customers will benefit from direct write lithography at sub-µm resolution and the throughput advantages of optical lithography. This add-on acquisition will drive Raith’s continued profitable growth worldwide,” says Dr. Ralf Jede, CEO of Raith Group. “We are very pleased to merge our long-standing expertise in UV laser technology for micropatterning with Raith´s leadership in nanofabrication markets,” says Jacco Houter, CEO of 4PICO Litho B.V.
