SilMach selects Tronics for the industrialization of its silicon components for hybrid MEMS solutions

15.06.2016
Tronics, a designer and manufacturer of innovative nano and microsystems, and SilMach, pioneer in the field of “hybrid” MEMS micromachines, announce the signature of an industrialization contract. The silicon MEMS components issued from this collaboration will be manufactured in high volumes, representing up to several million units within the next five years.

Through this partnership, Tronics will ensure the large scale production of the silicon components in SilMach’s hybrid MEMS solutions, thus securing the supply chain for the key customer accounts of the company from the Franche-Comté region. The alliance of SilMach and Tronics enables to combine respectively a world unique expertise in the conception of hybrid MEMS systems with an industrial expertise recognized at international level in MEMS-based manufacturing processes. This combination will provide the market with ultra-compact, low power consumption and price-competitive hybrid MEMS solutions for an optimal integration in mobile systems.

“This collaboration is decisive for the deployment of our industrial strategy. It allows us to structure our partnerships with key accounts by ensuring a supply capacity in line with market expectations”, said Patrice Minotti, Chief Executive Officer of SilMach. “Tronics quickly established itself as the privileged partner to address our targeted markets with high volumes, by demonstrating its ability to ensure the production ramp up requested by our customers, while controlling in parallel the technology transfer and the qualification of our processes”.

“We are pleased to contribute to the acceleration of SilMach’s roadmap and to support its teams in their industrialization phase”, added Pascal Langlois, Chief Executive Officer of Tronics. “The recognition from such a player attests to the relevancy of our foundry offer for innovative markets with strong volumes, and paves the way to promising new collaborations for the manufacturing of new product generations with high added value”.
