European micro and nano companies rule off 2009 – the year of the worst economic crisis – and resume their activities with optimism. Improving markets in the semiconductor business made some companies turn from “Kurzarbeit” – a German form a slowing down production without laying off employees – to extra weekend shifts. The recent European data survey conducted among 2640 companies and institutes by IVAM – an European association companies and institutes in the field of micro- and nanotechnology – shows that the expectation for 2010 are not too high but improving.

Especially German companies are interested in Japan for R&D activities, medical technology, sensor technology and the semiconductor industry. IVAM is representing European micro and nano companies at Japan nano tech, February 17-19, 2010, at Tokyo Big Sight. IVAM will also present the results of the current data survey and an update of the Nano Guide of Europe, a database of more than 3.500 European micro- and nanotechnology companies and institutes.
