On May 21 and 22, 2025, Dortmund became the European hub for micro- and high-tech innovations. Under the motto “Tech United: Bridging Nations, Building Future,” the IVAM Hightech Summit 2025 brought together international experts from industry and research – while also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the IVAM Microtechnology Network.
Technologies for the Future
The two-day conference program highlighted current developments and future trends in photonics, microfluidics, sensor technology, quantum technologies, and medical applications. The sessions impressively demonstrated the interdisciplinary and application-oriented nature of modern microsystems technology – from personalized diagnostics and intelligent manufacturing processes to hybrid quantum systems.
Focus on Exchange and Practical Innovation
With interactive formats such as the “Microtech Applications” hands-on session, the technical exhibition, and the Innovation Arena with live pitches from young companies, the Summit offered ample space for direct exchange, fresh impulses, and real-world applications. A strong focus was placed on the close link between research, development, and industrial implementation.
The Innovation Award was won by mechIC GmbH from Bochum. “mechIC” stands for mechanical Integrated Circuits – representing a mission to gradually bring novel micromechanical MEMS sensors to market that can measure and store data without electrical energy, offering targeted data insights.
Strategic Insights, Recognition and Celebration
The event also addressed strategic perspectives: In the panel discussion “Stadium of Synergy”, participants explored and debated the innovation potential of SMEs. During the evening celebration, long-standing IVAM members were honored for their 10, 20, 25 or even 30 years of continuous engagement – accompanied by an entertaining keynote and a vibrant networking program in the unique stadium setting.
The IVAM Hightech Summit 2025 was a great success: high satisfaction among attendees, intensive networking, technological depth, and a strong signal for the innovative strength of the high-tech community.
The next IVAM Hightech Summit is scheduled for June 2026.
